My Alkatronic measures something else than my manual test kit
Alkatronic has an inbuilt accuracy of +-0.04dKH. Only reason if it doesn't give you a perfect value is always that its not perfect calibrated and/or that the reagent is not perfectly mixed. It's always that simple.
So what to do is just to check the 3 areas that have to be calibrated correct to get this high accuracy:
1) pumps A, C
2) electrode
3) reagent
Pumps are easy, just use test pump accuracy, and if thats not 10.0 and 50 .0 then redo calibration and don´t satisfy until test pump accuracy test is spot on 10.0 and 50.0. Check manual for more info if you are a beginner and not familiar with this function.
Electrode is common that user dont calibrate perfect, so its a good practice if you have inaccuracy despite perfect calibrated pumps, to recalibrate the pH electrode. Calibrate a pH electrode is an art, check our pdf in Owners club for some tips how to perform this perfect.
Reagent is also a common area where people don´t mix it perfect. Even if you mix it with he correct ratio 1/4, its important to have good tools. Its not good enough with kitchen tools for volumetric measure, but you should use a volumetric flask. See manual for pictures and how to do that. Kitchen scale can work, but can also be inaccurate dependning on quality of scale, so dont be surprised that the reagent can be off even if you followed correct the 1/4 ratio rule. Using a volumetric flask can never fail, it gives you always a very very high accuracy of the reagent and also the fastest way.
If you for instance at the moment haven't a volumetric flask and you have done your best, or can´t recalibrate the electrode because you are out of calibration fluid at them moment, THEN you can save a bad calibration/reagent by just using ”Baseline calibration”. See manual how to do. But next time, when you have fixed the reason, don't forget to disable baseline calibration again.
So remember, if you experience some inaccuracy, it's always because of not perfect calibrated calibrated pumps and/or nit perfect calibrated electrode and/or not perfectly mixed reagent.
